Highlights
Day 1: Darwin to Kakadu
Only a short three hour drive from Darwin, Kakadu National Park is the perfect start to your drive along Nature’s Way. Stop at the Adelaide River and see massive salt water crocodiles jump for food in their natural habitat all from the safety of the riverboat.
Day 2-3: Kakadu National Park
As a stunning World Heritage-listed site and Australia’s largest national park there are so many ways to see and do Kakadu. Go for a cruise through one the many rivers and see native wildlife thrive in their natural habitats or walk through ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries.
Challenge yourself to tackle one of the extensive network of four-wheel drive and bushwalking trails, or relax under cascading waterfalls.
Day 4:Kakadu to Katherine via Pine Creek
Take the Stuart Highway through Pine Creek and make your way to Katherine which offers a great base for you to start exploring the Victoria River region. Visit up to six national parks and over 10 nature parks, reserves and conservation areas including Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park.
Day 5: Nitmiluk National Park
Only a short 30km drive from Katherine, Nitmiluk National Park has so many ways to explore whether by helicopter, cultural cruise or by foot. Be sure to traverse the Katherine Gorge too where you can see stunning cliff faces and lots of friendly wildlife
Day 6: Katherine to Litchfield
Renowned for its accessible, unspoiled wilderness of stunning rainforests and waterfalls, Litchfield National Park is a nature-lover’s paradise. Chill out at the Florence Falls or wade through the rockpools at Buley Rockhole.
Day 7: Litchfield to Darwin
Make your way back to Darwin via the Territory Wildlife Park and be sure to check out the amazing treetop aviaries, natural lagoons and aquarium to see animals such as crocodiles and fish in their natural habitat. Finish up with a picnic at Berry Springs Nature Park before the short drive back to Darwin.
